Covid-19: Nigeria Records 221 New Cases Bringing Total Number Of Infections To 56,956

Health Agency, No New Report Within The Past 24 Hours, As NCDC Announces 221 New Confirmed Cases From 18 states Within The Nation

Nigeria has recorded 221 new Covid-19 cases, a development which has taken the country’s total infection tally to 56,956.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this on its official twitter handle on Friday.

NCDC said that as of September, 18. 2020, 221 new confirmed cases with 2 death were recorded in the country.

The health agency added that no new state has reported a case in the past 24 hours.

According to it, till date, while 56,956 cases have been confirmed, 48,305 cases have been discharged and 1,094 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The health agency said that the 221 new cases were reported from 18 states thus –Lagos-59, Abia-46, FCT-22, Gombe-20, Plateau-17, Rivers-11, Bauchi-7, Benue-6, Ekiti-6, Imo-6, Kaduna-4, Kwara-4, Ondo-4.

Others are Ogun-3, Osun-3, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1, Kano-1.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has said that Nigerians stand the risk of increasing the rate of spreading the virus to their parents and the older population in the country if they fail to practice preventive behaviour.

“Do not put their lives in danger. #TakeResponsiblity to protect them – observe physical distancing, wear a face mask, and wash your hands frequently,” it advised.
