Covid-19: Nigeria Records 212 New Cases Bringing Total Number Of Infections To 61,194

Health Agency, No New Report Within The Past 24 Hours, As NCDC Announces 212 New Confirmed Cases From 8 states Within The Nation

Nigeria has recorded 212 new Covid-19 cases, a development which has taken the country’s total infection tally to 61,194.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this on its official twitter handle on Friday.

NCDC said that as of October, 16. 2020, 212 new confirmed cases with 3 death recorded in the country.

The health agency added that no new state has reported a case in the past 24 hours.

According to it, till date, while 61,194 cases have been confirmed, 52,304 cases have been discharged and 1,119 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The health agency said that the 212 new cases were reported from 8 states thus – Lagos-85, Oyo-72, FCT-21, Ogun-11, Plateau-11, Katsina-6.

Others are Kaduna-5, Osun-1.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has said that Nigerians stand the risk of increasing the rate of spreading the virus to their parents and the older population in the country if they fail to practice preventive behaviour.

“Do not put their lives in danger. #TakeResponsiblity to protect them – observe physical distancing, wear a face mask, and wash your hands frequently,” it advised.
